So many people visit my blog everyday to know about – how to remove a blog or a web site from Google index. While searching for the term they land on my post – “Why you should remove your website or blog from Google index!” I don’t want people to get disgusted for not having what they are looking for!
Don’t blame me, Google sent you here!
So here goes the process:
- The first thing you can do is using a custom 404 or 410 for the pages you want no more to be crawled by google-bot.
- You can also use a robot.txt file to disallow all or some of the selected web crawlers from visiting specific pages, directory or entire website.
- You can also use a NOINDEX / NOFOLLOW in your Meta document to stop a robot from going farther.
You must complete any of the three processes mentioned above and than follow the next stages:
Go to Google Webmaster Tools (you must have a Google account to sign in)
Here you will be prompted to add a site > Verify the site [verify that you are the owner of that site – 2 processes – 1) Add a Meta tag or 2) Upload an HTML file]
Once you have verified your authority, go straight to Diagnostic> Tools> URL Removals > New Removal Request > select your option > Click Next > enter the URL
Now, you are free to do whatever you want!
NB. Move around Google Webmaster Tools there are so many other features to help you!
